Sustainability

At El Tigre, we make pieces that go beyond trend—timeless, elevated, and built to last. But looking good shouldn't come at the cost of your skin or the planet. That's why we choose sustainable, feel-good fabrics like recycled nylon and Oeko-Tex® certified materials—clean, conscious, and ready for the wild.

Because what touches your body should honor it—and the Earth you move through.

MATERIALS

REPREVE®

El Tigre swimwear is crafted using REPREVE®, a high-performance fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. It’s our way of turning ocean-bound waste into something built to thrive in the water. Durable, flexible, and buttery-soft, REPREVE® lets us create suits that perform without compromise—on you and for the planet.

Sustainability is a journey, not a finish line—and we’re in it for the long haul. From thoughtful production practices to timeless designs that last season after season, we’re committed to doing better, one suit at a time.

Designed by women who live for the ocean, El Tigre fuses fearless design with functional fit. Swimwear that moves with you, holds up to the chaos, and looks damn good doing it—so you can do what you love without missing a beat.

Globally-trusted, sustainable fiber. REPREVE® is transparent, traceable and certified.

DYEING PRACTICES

  • Free from Harmful Chemicals:
OEKO-TEX certified dyes are rigorously tested and guaranteed to be free from a long list of substances, including azo dyes, formaldehyde, heavy metals, pesticides, and undesirable surfactants.

    Reactive Dyes:
The process often utilizes reactive dyes, which bond directly with the fabric fibers. This leads to more efficient color absorption, requiring less dye and less water for rinsing and washing.

    Environmental Benefits:
By reducing water consumption and the use of harmful chemicals, OEKO-TEX dyeing contributes to a more sustainable and eco-friendly textile industry.

    Consumer Safety:
The certification ensures that finished products are safe for human contact, including sensitive skin, and minimizes the risk of skin irritation or allergic reactions.

    Transparency and Traceability:
OEKO-TEX provides a system for consumers to verify the validity of their labels and products, according to Hohenstein.

    Global Standard:
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a widely recognized and respected standard for textile testing and certification, according to Oeko-Tex.

    Beyond Harmful Substances:
OEKO-TEX certification also considers aspects like responsible water management, emissions, and resource use.
